Times Are Tough But Not for All of Us
If you’ve been looking for freelance writing jobs from home I’d wager you’re a little bit surprised by the sheer volume of fabulous opportunities there are. Although, if you’re a veteran ad copy guy who boogied through the 1980s and 90s bringing in untold fortunes while you played office hockey, you have my condolences.
The thing is, with these tough economic times combined with the global networking ability the internet gifted us, smart companies are looking to outsource their copy writing jobs to help cut marketing costs without backing off of their campaigns.
So as we can all empathize with ad exec’s losses, we can simultaneously take full advantage of the situation like any self-respecting freelance writer would. Never before have there been so many opportunities for freelance writing jobs from home. From home! Like, in your pajamas or underwear or….ew.
What you as a freelance copy writer need to do is to remind those big companies what happens when a business backs off of their marketing during economic hardships. Studies show that businesses that either ramp up or maintain their marketing efforts during a recession enjoy, on average, over 250% growth during that time. Companies who pull back the reigns on their marketing budgets not only suffer a much lower growth rate, less than 19%, they also have an uphill climb once the recovery is in swing. Slide this information somewhere in your proposals.
It sounds a teeny bit like extortion maybe, but you’re really only offering them the hard facts. And let’s face it, you’d be talking their language. Think of it more as persuasion. They should thank you, or at least pay you something.
But what if you’ve never tried to look for freelancing writing jobs from home? Where can you turn? What should you do? Well, first check out sites like Freelancer and Elance. These are both excellent sources for finding freelance work and the sites act as a third party to protect both you and your clients.
For no investment at all save a little time, you can start bidding on jobs and working your way up the ladder in PJs. Just make sure your slippers have slip resistant strips on the bottom. My back STILL hurts from running, um sliding, to get to the phone last week. World’s softest socks…pfft.
If you have been considering looking for freelance writing jobs from home , stop by and say “hi!” We’re happy to share any advice, tips or tools that we have at our disposal. We’re even more happy to receive those things. If you’re in the market for a snazzy new freelance writer who works in her pajamas, look no further gorgeous.
